BMW 2002 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit
People have been converting 2002 BMW rear brakes to discs for many years. The conversions have ranged from simple to complex, with different part choices, part availabilities and pricing all over the place.
All parts are new and not remanufactured. We believe this is the kit you’ve been waiting for!
Aluminum VW/Audi Disc Brake Calipers w/Cast Iron Carriers
These are high-quality, light-weight aluminum (not cast iron) calipers, made by an OEM for Audi, Porsche and VW. They dissipate heat better than cast iron calipers, weigh less and will attach to your e-brake easily. Future parts availability is not a concern as with some other kits.
Painting is recommended to prevent corrosion. Calipers have a two year warranty.
X-Drilled, Coated, Premium Rear Brake Rotor Set
X-Drilled design dissipates heat generated during braking
Quality German engineering with 4×100 bolt pattern for 2002’s
Non-Corrosive Coating requires no removal on install, simply bolt them up
Improves wet weather braking by pushing water away from the pad and rotor
Plus, they look freakin’ awesome!
Rotors have a one year warranty.
Set of Four Hawk OES Rear Disc Brake Pads
The Hawk Performance Original Equipment Service Brake Pads are specifically engineered to reduce brake NVH which is Noise, Vibration, and Harshness. The Hawk OES Ceramic Brake Pads are gentle on your rotors giving you long lasting braking performance.
They have been slotted and chamfered to keep noise down to a minimum, and the ceramic compound reduces the amount of brake dust that is generated which means you can spend more time driving and less time cleaning brake dust off your wheels.
And, your Hawk OES Brake Pads are backed by a Lifetime Warranty!
2002 BMW Rear Disc Brake Brackets
These brackets are CNC Water Jet cut from 3/8″ Hot Rolled A36 Steel. Brackets come with all required hardware to bolt to your trailing arms. We prime and paint them to reduce corrosion.
Pair of 50-state street legal DOT Certified Stainless Steel Brake Lines w/Banjo Bolts
Minimum Burst Pressure -12000 PSI. Backed by a lifetime warranty.
Note: 2002 BMW rear hubs are slightly larger than the inside diameter of the brake rotors supplied in our BMW 2002 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit.
Which means, you will need your hubs machined down (roughly 1/4 of an inch) by your local machine shop. We chose to take this approach, (not providing machined hubs), because most everyone has a local machine shop and it saves shipping costs back and forth, us charging you a core charge for your hubs, etc.
That’s our BMW 2002 Rear Disc Brake Conversion Kit. We feel that we’ve struck a good balance of high-quality parts, reliability, future part availability, performance and reasonable pricing that offers 2002 owners real value. All you add is elbow grease and brake fluid!
FYI – to do this mod/upgrade correctly, it’s really for people running 15″ wheels, or get ready to grind the calipers slightly to fit inside 14″ wheels. But then your warranty is void on the calipers.
For anyone that has not done the front large disc upgrade using Girling brake calipers and e21 rotors, you may need a brake proportioning valve. JEGS has a good selection located HERE.
Pricing is $739.95 + UPS Ground shipping, see our 2002 BMW Parts page. We are currently adding people who want to get on our kits list and we are expecting to be able to start shipping brake kits — March 2017. Get on our list today!
